Arthroscopic foot surgery is defined as procedures performed with
the use of small viewing instruments referred to as arthroscopes
and small surgical instruments referred to as tools. The scope
produces an angled image projected onto a viewing screen next
to the operating room table.
Tools include manipulation probes, tiny burrs, tiny drills, tiny trimmers
or biters, and occasionally tiny thermal probes. The scope and the tools
are introduced through the skin and the joint capsule through tiny
incisions referred to as portals.
